JOB TITLE: PATROL OFFICER I
DEPARTMENT: POLICE DEPARTMENT
The City of Fort Stockton is seeking a Patrol Officer I for the Police Department under the direction of the Police Sergeant to patrol and provide enforcement, detection and crime prevention under the laws of the City, State, and United States; carry out special assignments in the field of police work; do related work as required; provide reports of assignments and/or related work as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required, college preferred. Must possess valid Texas Driver’s License with good driving record; Texas Basic Certificate of Law Enforcement Officer Training preferred; current TCOLE certification required; must be a U.S. citizen to be sworn in as a Texas Officer.
Qualified candidates will be contacted to complete a written test and a physical fitness test. At the conclusion of the written exam, a physical agility test will follow. Applicants must meet the following standard to continue in the hiring process: the PT test is the Cooper “Single Cut-Point” standard consisting of 1.5 mile run in 16:28, 300 meter run in 1:11, 25 pushups in 1 minute, and 29 sit-ups in 1 minute. Applicants must be Texas certified or currently enrolled in a police academy, to participate in the testing process.
