CITY OF FORT STOCKTON SPECIAL RUNOFF ELECTION

The City Secretary serves as the Elections Administrator for the City. Currently the City of Fort Stockton contracts with the Pecos County Clerk's Office for administration and coordination of any General or Special City Elections.

In May of 2023, the City of Fort Stockton called a Special Runoff Election to be held on June 20, 2023 for the purpose of electing a Mayor. The Mayor's term is for a period of three years.

It is anticipated that the City of Fort Stockton’s Special Runoff Election will be administered by the Pecos County Clerk's Office. Early voting is scheduled for Thursday, June 8, 2023 through Friday, June 16, 2023. Election Day voting will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Specific information concerning polling locations and early voting times will be made available on the City of Fort Stockton website and on the Pecos County website as soon as those details become available.

Applications for ballots by mail must be requested from and mailed to the Pecos County Clerk's Office and received no later than the close of business on June 9, 2023. The address is 200 S. Nelson, Fort Stockton, Texas 79735.

CITY OF FORT STOCKTON GENERAL ELECTION

The City Secretary serves as the Elections Administrator for the City. Currently the City of Fort Stockton contracts with the Pecos County Clerk's Office for administration and coordination of any General or Special City Elections.

In early 2023, the City of Fort Stockton will call a General Election to be held on May 6, 2023 for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two City Council Members, designated as Places 1 and 2. The Mayor's and Council Member's terms are for a period of three years.

An informational candidate packet for those who may be interested in learning more about running for City Council can be found here or picked up at City Hall (121 W. Second Street, City Secretary’s Office) when the filing period begins.  The period for submitting an application to the City Secretary's Office for a place on the May 6, 2023 ballot runs from Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 at 8 a.m. through Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at 5 p.m.

CITY OF FORT STOCKTON SPECIAL ELECTION

The City of Fort Stockton will hold it's Special Election November  2, 2021 for the purpose of Authorizing the City of Fort Stockton to provide for the planning, acquisition, establishment, development, construction, renovation, and financing of new and existing convention center facilities and any related infrastructure at the location of the existing Event Center within the city limits (the “venue project”) and the related maintenance and operation thereof in accordance with applicable law, and to impose a new hotel occupancy tax on the occupancy of a room in a hotel located within the City at a rate not to exceed two percent (2%) of the price paid for such a room for the purpose of financing the venue project.

 If approved, the maximum hotel occupancy tax rate imposed from all sources in the City of Fort Stockton would be fifteen percent (15%) of the price paid for a room in a hotel.
